Health-promoting behaviors are recommended to childhood cancer survivors (CCS) to reduce late effects resulting from cancer treatment. Understanding factors associated with substance use is needed, especially among Hispanic CCS who are underrepresented in previous studies. The objective of this study is to examine substance use behaviors of recently treated Hispanic and non-Hispanic CCS.

The diagnosis and treatment of cancer causes significant physical, psychological, and social effects that interfere with a person’s sexuality. Sexuality is complex and broadly defined concept comprising: the sexual response cycle, body image, ones’ sexual role and sexual relationships. Several EORTC cancer site specific modules include a limited number of sexual functioning items that do not adequately cover the whole range of sexual health which are most important for cancer patients.

Op het Internationaal Psycho-Oncologie Congres van 2016 (IPOS) werden een heel aantal onderzoeksprojecten voorgesteld van over de hele wereld met betrekking tot de psychosociale oncologie. Ook het CHi stelde haar onderzoek over de professionele levenskwaliteit bij Vlaamse zorgverleners in de oncologie voor.

tekenis aan het leven geeft. De getuigen ervaren de ziekte als een kantelmoment die hun visie op leidinggeven permanent heeft veranderd. Met het boek hoopt Erik dat anderen (en niet enkel leidinggevenden) kracht kunnen putten uit deze getuigenissen wanneer ze met een uitdagende crisis worden geconfronteerd.

Veel lotgenoten hebben het gevoel dat ze te weinig ondersteuning vinden wanneer ze belangrijke beslissingen moeten maken over hun behandeling. Lotgenoten die online communiceren zijn vaak zekerder over hun beslissingen en tevredener over de keuzes die ze gemaakt hebben. Dat blijkt uit een studie van het kankercentrum van de Universiteit van Michigan. Dat onderzoek vroeg aan 2460 lotgenoten wat het belang was van online communicatie tijdens hun behandeling.

Bladder cancer is a genitourinary disease of increasing incidence. Despite improvements in treatment, outcomes remain equivocal with high recurrence rates. It is associated with poor psychosocial outcomes due to reduced functioning of the genitourinary system. The objective of these analyses was to query whether reported loss of function or the perception of psychological burden caused by this functional impedance was the key to understanding psychosocial outcomes.

The aim of this study was to explore the association of social support received, and functional and psychological status of colorectal cancer patients before surgery with changes in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) outcomes measured by EORTC QLQ-C30 at 1-year post-intervention.
