Tessa is zeventien en weet ze dat ze nooit achttien zal worden. Haar ziekte is ongeneeslijk, dus geniet ze liever van ieder moment dat ze nog heeft. Tessa heeft een lijst met dingen die ze graag nog wil doen. Een hele nacht feesten, een joint roken, iets stelen, seks hebben... Terwijl haar ouders en broertje op hun eigen manier proberen te accepteren dat ze hun dochter en zusje gaan verliezen, ontdekt Tessa samen met haar beste vriendin Zoey de wereld.

GeriOnNe staat voor Geriatrische Oncologie Nederland. Een landelijke stichting, die aandacht vraagt voor de specifieke problematiek van oudere kankerpatiënten en die zich inzet om de zorg voor deze groep te verbeteren. Ruim 40% van alle kankerpatiënten is ouder dan 70 jaar en dit aantal zal als gevolg van de dubbele vergrijzing alleen maar toenemen. Aandacht voor de specifieke problematiek van oudere patiënten met kanker wordt daarom steeds belangrijker.

De jaarindex geeft een overzicht van lopend en actueel wetenschappelijk onderzoek in de psychosociale oncologie, en draagt bij aan het doel van de NVPO om de zichtbaarheid van psychosociaal oncologisch onderzoek te vergroten, de translatie van kennis te stimuleren en de implementatie van onderzoeksresultaten in de praktijk aan te moedigen. Deze derde editie bevat 112 lopende onderzoeksprojecten die het afgelopen jaar zijn afgerond, gecontinueerd dan wel opgestart. De jaarindex geeft een breed beeld van het onderzoek dat momenteel wordt uitgevoerd op het terrein van de PSO in Nederland.

Breast cancer treatments and the traumatic nature of the cancer experience frequently elicit considerable sexual difficulties. Breast cancer survivors (BCS) experiencing body image (BI) issues may represent a vulnerable group for developing sexual dysfunction posttreatment. The current study explores sexual functioning (SF) in this unique clinical group.

A diagnosis of cancer and subsequent treatment are distressing not only for the person directly affected, but also for their intimate partner. The aim of this review is to (a) identify the main theoretical frameworks underpinning research addressing dyadic coping among couples affected by cancer, (b) summarise the evidence supporting the concepts described in these theoretical frameworks, and (c) examine the similarities and differences between these theoretical perspectives.

Up to 40% of breast cancer survivors develop lymphedema, a chronic and sometimes disabling condition that manifests as abnormal swelling of the effected arm or hand or upper chest areas. Although the effects of lymphedema on quality of life have been well established, less well documented are the sexual experiences of breast cancer survivors with lymphedema. This study is the first to compare the sexual experiences of women with (n = 243) and without breast cancer-related lymphedema (n = 109).
