Artikel: 'Psychosocial adjustment of female partners of men with prostate cancer: A review of the literature.'

Abstract: Advances in prostate cancer treatments since the 1990s have led to a growing proportion of patients living with the effects of the cancer. Various challenges face the man and his partner from the point of learning of the diagnosis: deciding among numerous diverse treatment options, dealing with side-effects of treatment and possibly facing the terminal phase of the illness. This invariably has an impact on the patient’s family and, in view of the older age group of men usually affected, the experience of a partner is particularly relevant.

Artikel: "Distinct work-related, clinical and psychological factors predict return to work following treatment in four different cancer types."

Abstract: Many factors in!uence return to work (RTW) following cancer treatment. However specific factors affecting RTW across different cancer types are unclear. This study examined the role of clinical, sociodemographic, work and psychological factors in RTW following treatment for breast, gynaecological, head and neck, and urological cancer.

Methods: A 12-month prospective questionnaire study was conducted with 290 patients. Cox regression analyses were conducted to calculate hazard ratios (HR) for time to RTW.

Artikel: 'The contribution of general and cancer-related variables in explaining physical activity in a breast cancer population 3 weeks to 6 months post-treatment.'

Abstract: Physical activity determinants are subject to change when confronted with the diagnosis of ‘cancer’ and new cancer-related determinants appear. The aim of the present study is to compare the contribution of cancer-related determinants with more general ones in explaining physical activity 3 weeks to 6 months post-treatment.

Methods: A theory-based and validated questionnaire was used to identify physical activity levels (total and domain-speci!c) and associated determinants among 464 breast cancer survivors (aged 18 to 65 years) 3 weeks to 6 months post-treatment.

Artikel: 'What goes up does not always come down: patterns of distress, physical and psychosocial morbidity in people with cancer over a one year period.'

Abstract: As the concept of distress as the 6th vital sign gains strength in cancer care, research on the experience of patients is critical. This study longitudinally examined patients’ physical and psychosocial concerns over the year following diagnosis.

Methods: Between July 2007 and February 2008, patients attending a large tertiary cancer centre were recruited to participate in a study examining their levels of distress, pain, fatigue, depression and anxiety over a year.

Unmet information needs and impact of cancer in (long-term) thyroid cancer survivors: results of the PROFILES registry

Artikel: Effect of brief psychoeducation using a tablet PC on distress and quality of life in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy: a pilot study

Abstract: Managing distress has become crucial in optimized cancer care. Psychoeducation using tablet PCs has potential as a novel intervention to reduce distress in cancer patients. We examined the benefit of a single-session psychoeducation using a tablet PC during chemotherapy.

Artikel: Cancer-related PTSD symptoms in a veteran sample: association with age, combat PTSD, and quality of life

Abstract: The diagnosis and treatment of cancer is a potentially traumatic experience that may evoke posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) among survivors. This paper describes the rates of endorsement of cancer-related PTSS along with the relationship of demographic, cancer, and combat variables on PTSS and quality of life.
