Patients with advanced cancer may benefit from end of life (EOL) planning, but there is evidence that their willingness and desire to engage in advance care planning (ACP) varies. The reasons for this remain poorly understood. Previous reviews on ACP most commonly report outcome measures related to medical interventions and type of care. Synthesis of the literature, which aims to illuminate the salient characteristics of ACP and investigates the psychological and social features of preparation for the EOL, is required.

Welke rol voor de werkgever?
Werken in de zorg doe je vaak vanuit een sterke bevlogenheid, maar tegelijk kampen veel zorgverleners met burn-out. Waarom is het soms gemakkelijker om voor anderen te zorgen dan voor jezelf? Hoe kunnen we - specifiek in de zorg - zoveel mogelijk mensen zo lang mogelijk hun job laten doen zonder dat ze hierbij zichzelf verliezen en hun batterijen langzaam eeglopen?

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) is comprised of 25 National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers and arguably could thus set the standard for optimal psychosocial staffing for cancer centers; therefore, information was sought from NCCN Member Institutions about their current staffing for psychosocial services. These findings are put into perspective given the limited existing literature and consensus reports.

Burnout is a significant problem among healthcare professionals working within the oncology setting. This study aimed to investigate predictors of emotional exhaustion (EE) and depersonalisation (DP) in psychosocial oncologists, through the application of the effort–reward imbalance (ERI) model with an additional focus on the role of meaningful work in the burnout process.
