Challenges in communication with cancer patients and their relatives: The Belgian, the German and the Netherlands Models.

Being a psychologist working with cancer patients and their families is rich in human experiences and meaning. Nevertheless, it confronts psychologists with new communication challenges: assessing a desire to die, caring for cancer patients suffering from personality disorders, supporting informed consent, addressing the side effects of innovative therapies, talking about uncertainty and supporting hope, assessing psychological symptoms, etc. Thanks to the support of the Foundation Against Cancer, the Cédric Hèle Instituut, the Centre de Psycho-Oncologie and the Institut Jules Bordet, two intensive Masterclass days are proposed by the Belgian Society for Psychosocial Oncology (BSPO) to psychologists working in hospitals or within a private practice with cancer patients and their relatives.

Programma:

These two intensive days include plenary sessions in English allowing interactions with experts of the field, from Belgium, Germany or the Netherlands; and workshops with groups of maximum 8 participants conducted in Dutch, French or English.
